Laminate & LVPMuch of Salt Lake City's housing predates 1950, and the Avenues and Sugar House are full of bungalows and foursquares whose walls are no longer square and whose bathrooms were built around cast iron. Work in Salt Lake City leans toward old-house work: floors that need leveling before a large-format tile will sit flat, and layouts set to the room's sightlines rather than to one wall that has moved. Tell us the room and we will come look at it.
Bathrooms of that period were built the old way: tile set in a thick mortar bed over lath, with a shower pan that was hot mopped or formed from sheet metal. Those assemblies were built to last and most have. What they have not done is stay waterproof forever. A tear-out here is heavier than in a newer house, and the condition of the pan usually decides whether the job is a reset or a rebuild.

It is almost never the right call. Tile lasts on a flat, sound, properly waterproofed substrate, and covering a failing one hides the reason it failed. The old material comes out first, and what is behind it gets repaired.
We also work in nearby cities.
